Happy Birthday Dad! | Blogtober Day 25

Blogtober Day 25!

Today’s blog is very special because it’s about a very special person who is very dear to me. As you can tell by the title, today is my dad’s birthday and this blog is all about him!

I know a lot of people say they have to best dad in the world but honestly, my dad is the best. Let’s clear that up now, haha. My dad may not be perfect but he is a perfectionist! Everything that my dad does, he does it to the best of his ability. He’s a great helper. Whenever he sees something that needs to be done or if he sees someone that needs help, he will put his plans to the side to help. I have experienced that first hand on many occasions. I can always count on my dad to be there for me when I need him. Even when I don’t think I need him, he’s there. He’s always been there. Not just for me, but for my brothers and my mom as well. My dad is a great father, grandfather, and husband. On top of the responsibility he has as a father, grandfather and a husband, he is also a pastor. Not just of one church, but two. My dad wears a lot of hats! And they all fit him well!

Over the past few years, most of my adult life basically, I have really looked up to my dad. When I was younger, I don’t think I appreciated him as much as I do now. In fact, I know I didn’t. Looking back on my life as a kid, I see things differently. Sometimes I didn’t understand why my dad did certain things the way he did. Now, I see. But, I think that there are some things I still don’t understand. Some things I may never understand. Maybe some stuff isn’t for me to understand. I’m just thankful that my dad followed God’s leading and in turn lead our family in the right direction.

My dad is a big inspiration to me. My dad received his Bachelor’s degree in Theology in 2015 and his Master’s degree in Psychology in May of 2018. My dad inspired me to go back to school and finish up my Bachelor’s degree. What he doesn’t know (he’ll find out when he reads this, haha) is that he has inspired me to continue my education so not only will I be getting my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2020, by 2021 I hope to have my Master’s degree. I’m trying to catch up to him!

My dad is a great role model. I’m very proud of my dad. He’s done some great things in life. He always tries to be the best that he can be for his family. I don’t want to make this post too long so dad, if you’re reading this, I just want to let you know that I really love you and I appreciate the person that you are to me. I couldn’t ask for a better dad. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything that you do for me. From the advice, to life lessons, to helping me with my car, and various other things, I thank you. For coming to my rescue and opening up your home to me in my time of need, I thank you. For the quality time we spend together, movie nights, and ice cream dates, I thank you. For all the stuffed monkeys you get me when you take your vacations, I thank you. For always looking out for me, even during the times when I don’t realize it, I thank you. For putting up with me and my foolishness from time to time, I thank you.

Thank  you Dad.

I love you so much.

I just wanted you and the rest of the world to know how great you are and how much I love you.

Be Easy.

  1. I am very humbled and at a loss of words. Your appreciation of me, expressing it through words in this blog has brought me to tears. Your appreciation of me, expressing it through your actions has brought joy to my heart.
As I read through the blog, I wondered if you had the right person in mind. Because I don’t feel that I have reached that status of which you have placed me. I will always be grateful and thankful for what you see in me that I don’t see in myself. I’m still pressing toward the mark of perfection and I know it’s only achievable in Christ. The closer I get to Christ the further it seems I am from perfection.
I love you Lateya…you ole rebel!! Thank you for such kind words and thoughts.
Now get back to your school work and make sure you turn it in on time! And remember just showing up to class is half of passing the class. Make sure you participate in class and always find you a seat up front. Don’t forget to check and change the oil in your car on a regular basis because you know, that’s the life of the car. Don’t forget to pray always and put God first in everything.
    Love you, Dad
